Get to the next level.
Specializing in practice to game transfer through specific, progressive repetitions in game-like environments that maximize decision making, skating and skill development.
Led by Hockey Canada Trained Master Skills Coach Bryce Cockburn. Based on Vancouver Island and available worldwide.

We pride ourselves on helping players own their skating and skills, so they use them at the right time and in the right place. The how is important to us, but just as important is the why, where and when.

“We value quality repetitions and progressions to find that sweet spot of sticky learning.”
Good habits come from learning the fundamentals with proper technique and specific detail. We keep groups small, work hard, help each other improve and have a great time doing it. The goal is improvement every day, and skills that stay with players all season.

Bryce came up as a Campbell River Tyee, played junior A with the Nanaimo Clippers and earned a scholarship to Northern Michigan. Along the way he played for four NHL coaches, Walt Kyle, Mike Haviland, Scott Gordon and Bill Armstrong, and their work ethic, patience and growth mindset shape how he coaches today.
Skills that show up in games
Bryce uses progressive practice methods built around the individual player. He starts with fundamentals and decision making, adds the small details that turn good players into great ones, and builds habits through quality repetitions. Turning practice skills into game results is one of his biggest strengths.
Every session teaches the why, when, where, what and how of the game, through video, practice drills and demonstrations, so players learn to think the game at a higher level. He focuses on the 20 percent of skills that make 80 percent of the difference, and adjusts that focus as players grow. Bryce has been coaching teams for the past 10 years, the last two with the North Island Zone U13 and U15 Tier 1 teams. His U13 Tier 1 team completed 82 percent of their passes over 56 games, averaging 206 completed passes a game against the toughest schedule they could find.
Bryce also offers video review sessions for players on any team, wherever they play. Players send in their game tape along with the feedback they’re getting from their own coaches, and Bryce breaks down what he sees and helps them focus on the details that will make the biggest difference.

Passionate about improvement
I have been very fortunate to have had some extremely good coaches throughout my hockey career, including four NHL coaches, and I have learned a lot from all of them. It means a lot to me and feels great to be able to give back and help local players take their game to that next level. Campbell River is where I, along with a lot of our staff, started skating and learned to play the game.
Our purpose is to help each and every player in our camps improve, not just during the week we have them, but to have it soak in so they take what they have learned with them and use it on the ice throughout the year.
Through all of our personal experience playing, coaching and teaching, we feel we have a good grasp on what really works to develop young players and how to get the most out of every skater in our camps. We realize every player is at a different skill level, so we create a positive atmosphere on the ice where everyone is helping each other do what it takes to improve as a hockey player, and having fun doing it!
It is a real satisfaction when we notice a player’s skating and skills developing during the camps. That means we are doing our jobs, and that is why we enjoy doing it. Campbell River has had a lot of hockey talent come out of it over the years, and we would like to help keep that trend going.
Coaching staff
A valuable member of our coaching team, Wyatt brings pro experience to the ice, playing for the Fayetteville Marksmen of the SPHL.
A head coach and former Tyee who played in the VIJHL and at the University of Central Oklahoma. Dom coaches the Bulldogs spring teams and leads off ice training.
A former Tyee who played for the Port Alberni Bulldogs in the BCHL and now plays for Lakehead University. Kye’s energy and positivity get the best out of players, and he helps coach the Bulldogs spring teams.
A certified Hockey Canada Skills coach and strength and conditioning specialist who runs Elite Edges in Powell River. Joe joins us for the edges and puck skills camp.
From the players
Bryce has helped me tremendously over the years with his hockey knowledge and his ability to explain things in a way that’s easy to understand. Every time I’m home, I make sure to get as many sessions as I can with Bryce before leaving because his teaching and sessions are extremely valuable.
As you get older and move up levels in hockey, the small details and the way you think the game become extremely important, and that’s where I think Bryce does his best work.
